Here's what you get in return for a little extra size and weight: Bigger, brighter screen There, an extra half pound can get old pretty quick. This makes the M1 Max 62 faster than the Intel. The latter has a lower score of 42,884 while the former’s score is 69,478. It might be a different story if I were commuting with it every day, especially via subway. Geekbench 5 Metal GPU This test is measuring the quality of graphics provided by the M1 Max and Intel MacBook Pro. That said, I carried this around for several days and didn't feel like it was a massive imposition, even though I usually carry a very light device like a MacBook Air or Surface Pro. With its thicker body and larger footprint, this is not going to be a 1:1 replacement for your current MacBook Pro if you value portability above all else. Thunderbolt USB-C x3, HDMI, SDXC card, MagSafe 3 A half-pound may not sound like much, but in the arms race toward ever slimmer and lighter laptops, we're now definitely moving in the opposite direction. It's 3.5 pounds, compared to 3 pounds for the current 13-inch Pro and 2.8 pounds for the MacBook Air. Get close enough to pick it up, and that's when it hits you: This thing is actually pretty heavy. It has a bigger screen (obviously), slimmer bezels and a new keyboard color scheme. The screen has a notch cutout for the webcamįrom a distance, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro looks a lot like the 13-inch MacBook Air or 13-inch MacBook Pro you might already be using.
